AACA (Antique Automobile Club of America )  is the country's oldest and largest automotive historical society WWW.AACA.ORG.  A Pennsylvania nonprofit corporation, it is dedicated to the preservation, restoration and maintenance of automobiles and automotive history.  Founded in Philadelphia in 1935, its membership has grown to over 60,000 members from all parts of the world.    The AACA holds country-wide competitive and noncompetitive meets and events.  Tours and activities relating to the hobby are sponsored.  Annual meets feature conferences and workshops.  AACA members own many thousand of historic automobiles, rare collections of literature, books, films, pictures and other material significant to automotive history.

In 1969 a group of car enthusiasts in Greenwood, South Carolina decided to meet on a regular basis to discuss restoration of their old cars.  They were first recognized as a Chapter.  When enough members joined they applied for membership into the National Antique Automobile Club of America as the Emerald City Region.  A Certificate of Charter was issued on February 4, 1971.

The Emerald City Region's purpose is to perpetuate the memories of the pioneer days of automobiling by encouraging the preservation and collection of Antique Automobiles.

The Emerald City Region AACA has held an annual Automobile Show since 1971.  This annual event allows the club to share a part of automobile history with our local community, a virtual "Walk Back in Time".  Other car clubs in the region are encouraged to participate in this event.  We welcome cars of any type, from the classics of yesteryear to the muscle cars and hot rods of the 60's and 70's to the newest hot rods of the 80's to present.   www.visitgreenwoodsc.com

This year we were again asked to join our annual car show with the South Carolina Festival of Flowers www.scfestivalofflowers.org, a month long celebration.   On Saturday, June 6th the Emerald City Region AACA hosted our 38th Annual Car Show in Uptown Greenwood.  We featured cars from the 1920's all the way to the present day.  From Model T's to GTO's to Rat Rods and all types inbetween.  There was music, food, 50/50 raffle, door prizes and trophies to the top 35 cars by popular vote. Plus trophies for specialty categories.
